Errol Clarke came out of no where seemingly on the recruiting trail but he was a pleasant surprise to say the least. He plays linebacker for Miami Central, one of the college football factories in Florida. On a side note to this pickup, Clarke is the third Miami Central player to commit to Cincinnati in the past two years, following Dwight Jackson and Carroll Phillips who signed with the Bearcats for the 2011 class. Like Warren Central in Indianapolis, Coach Butch Jones is starting to build a pipeline to Miami Central which is always good to see.

Overview

I haven’t found any freely available highlights on Clarke but I’m sure those will emerge over the course of his senior season especially considering his connection to Miami Central which draws a lot of attention from college programs. Errol also received offers from FAU and FIU with supposed interest/offers from Nebraska and Texas Tech. This tells me that if he was good enough to garner offers from those programs then I’m pleased he chose Cincinnati. Also, the fact that he’s getting significant playing time for one of the top high school programs in America makes me feel very good about the pickup.

Outlook

Like Drake Bruns there aren’t any available highlight tapes to go on but just based on his position and the status of the linebacker position in 2012 when he steps on campus, I think Clarke takes a redshirt his freshman year. At that point, the Bearcats will have pretty decent depth at that position in Bomar, Tentman, Mason, Blair, Temple, Jackson, and potentially Carroll Phillips if he remains at that position.
