About Us
I created Bearcats Nation in August 2011 just before the opening of the 2011 UC football season. I created this website to help put my voice out there about the Cincinnati Bearcats. I have lived in Chicago, Illinois since May 2010 but had lived in Cincinnati since 1994. Needless to say I grew up in the heyday of Bearcats basketball watching likes of Danny Fortson and Kenyon Martin donning red and black. The Crosstown Shootout has been running through my veins just like Skyline chili and gets me amped up every year for basketball season. I hate Xavier. I respect them for being a good basketball program but I hate them none-the-less. I think Mick Cronin is the right coach for the Bearcats right now and is guiding them properly through the toughest conferences in college basketball. These aren’t your father’s Bearcats.
I began following the football side during the Gino Guidugli years and have never looked back. The close loss to Ohio State is one of my strongest memories of Bearcats football. I also remember my first away game for Cincinnati football in 2004 when the Bearcats got absolutely obliterated by Louisville. Both were gut wrenching to watch but also tapped my ‘root for the underdog’ feeling towards the football program. When Cincinnati started dominating the Big East in 2008 and 2009, I couldn’t have been happier. When Brian Kelly left, I knew the football program was finally on solid footing for further growth and accomplishments in the future. Overall, modern Cincinnati football as we know it is in it infancy and has yet to reach its potential. Bearcats Nation will be here to carry you every step of the way.
