Overview
He plays offensive tackle in high school and at 6’4″ 275 lbs, why not? With his size he can easily bowl over defensive linemen. For a kid his size he has pretty good mobility. Oak Hills appears to be more of a run-first offense that flourishes on road-pavers like Stacey. He has a solid technique jumping quickly out of his stance and driving an opposing defender with his strong legs. But he seems to be a bit slow when shuffling his feet against blitzing defensive ends and linebackers on passing plays. If he can get his body in front of the DE/LB it’s no contest: Stacey wins. But the blitzer can usually win with speed around the edge.
Outlook
Stacey will be redshirted his freshman year. Nothing against him, but as a rule of thumb it’s a good idea to give offensive linemen some time to adjust to playing at the collegiate offer. He certainly has the size to play big-time football. Once his redshirt year is up, I think the staff moves him to the interior of the offensive line. He’s pretty good moving from side-to-side but doesn’t have the height, arm length, and quickness to catch up to the defensive ends he’ll be facing in the Big east. No matter. He’ll have a heck of a time paving the way on the inside and should climb the depth chart at Cincinnati.
